Criminal Defense

As a former Jackson County prosecutor, I have a fundamental understanding of each step in building a criminal case against a Defendant. The question is not whether or not you committed the offense charged; the question is whether the state’s evidence can prove that beyond a reasonable doubt.
During my time as an assistant prosecutor, I charged and prosecuted various complex criminal cases - from property crimes to murders - and I will scrutinize the state’s evidence with a microscopic lens, advising you of the law and your rights along the way.
I will fight for you, your dignity, and your future. I am not timid about holding the state to its burden and taking your case to trial, by a jury of your peers, if the state is unreasonable in plea negotiations.
I specialize in Violent Crimes and Drug Offenses. I have extensive knowledge and experience in both the mechanics and law of those types of cases, as well as how to successfully defend those charges at trial and successfully advocate for you during plea negotiations.
Expungements

I will also advise and represent you in civil expungement proceedings to erase prior convictions from your record, because one mistake (or two) shouldn’t define a lifetime.
Expungement law in Missouri seems complicated, but it’s really quite simple. I can help break down the applicable statues and the law to help you put a bad arrest, a former conviction (or guilty plea), or a mistaken identity case behind you.
This knowledge and experience also factors into my criminal defense practice, because I believe everyone should have the opportunity for a fresh start without the fear of your past weighing down your present or future potential!
Animal Law
Throughout my legal career, I have advocated for animal welfare. This includes defending the “bad dogs.”
If your dog has been accused of being a “dangerous dog” by the government, please give me a call.
I have worked extensively with animal control agencies and animal laws throughout my legal career. I will fight for you and your pup or animal, because there are no “bad dogs,” and one mistake of a dog’s owner should not define your dog’s life nor yours!
I also handle certain animal-related offenses at the city-level. If you are charged with ordinance offenses (city tickets) regarding your dog, but you did not abuse or neglect your dog, please give me a call!
